When to get 3D Ultrasounds
By Chad Harbin
What is the best time and when to get 3D Ultrasounds? Judy Hewitt has been providing 3D Ultrasounds for several years in the Macon and Warner Robins Georgia area.
Here are the stages:
- Gender determination is at 16-24 weeks of pregnancy
- Best viewing of the unborn child is 25-28 weeks of pregnancy
- Peek at baby’s movements is at 28-35 weeks of pregnancy
Generally the best time to get 4D 3D ultrasound sessions done is routinely through out the pregnancy to help in spotting for
correction common anomalies like if the baby’s position is right or if the growth pattern is at par with the expected birth date and also
check for birth defects ensuring baby has all features of a normal child. And also assist to monitor the
progressing pregnancy when the parent is at risk for specific conditions.
3D ultrasound is a medical ultrasound technique, often used in obstetric ultrasonography (during pregnancy), providing three dimensional images of the fetus.
There are several different scanning modes in medical and obstetric ultrasound. The standard common obstetric diagnostic mode is 2D scanning. In 3D fetal scanning, however, instead of the sound waves being sent straight down and reflected back, they are sent at different angles. The returning echoes are processed by a sophisticated computer program resulting in a reconstructed three dimensional volume image of the fetus’s surface or internal organs, in much the same way as a CT scan machine constructs a CT scan image from multiple x-rays. 3D ultrasounds allow one to see the width, height and depth of images in much the same way as 3D movies but no movement is shown[dubious – discuss].
